FLY to Yellowknife

You can fly in to Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta, Canada from any major city (see map) with any major airline. Once in Edmonton or Calgary your board a connecting flight to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories with regional airlines: First Air or Canadian North. Air Canada now flies all the way to Yellowknife.  Once in Yellowknife, our charter float plane Air Tindi Ltd, will take you directly to Hearne Lake Lodge.  

Flight time from Edmonton to Yellowknife is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Flight time from Yellowknife to Hearne Lake about 20 minutes.   Use our IT# if you fly with Canadian North for a reduced airfare. Also Canadian North offers a reduced rate for Seniors. Age 55 and over. (Canadian North reservation  1-800-661-1505)

Depending on your travel arrangements, an overnight stay may be required in Yellowknife or Edmonton/Calgary.  Yellowknife is better to avoid uncontrollable flight delays that could lead to missing the floatplane and create additional cost to your trip.  

DRIVE to Yellowknife

You can rent a vehicle in Edmonton, (or use your own) and drive to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories on the scenic Mackenzie Hwy. The drive takes approximately 18 hours from Edmonton, Alberta. You  will cross the Mackenzie River at Fort Providence on a no toll ferry which runs from 6:00 am till midnight only. 

Once you arrive in Yellowknife, there are plenty of hotels and bed and breakfasts to suit everyone's taste. (See our links page for a few suggestions). 

Board a float plane at Air Tindi Ltd Float base in the Old Town of Yellowknife and you're ready for an exciting 20 min/40 mile flight to Hearne Lake Lodge.
